Assist a senior chef to make and prepare cakes, scone, pastry s, hot and cold meals. The apprentice will learn all aspects involved when running a commercial kitchen Including the latest food safety standards and practices. Other opportunities may arise to further your qualifications. You will also be expected to participate in cleaning of both areas Of our coffee shop, general day to day decision making, the chance to create your own dishes and serve them to the general public.

The Galleries Coffee Shop
The Galleries Café is located on the upper level in Middleton Grange Shopping Centre and serves breakfast, lunch, tasty snacks and more throughout the day. Robert was born and bred in Hartlepool. He started working at The Galleries Café on weekends when he was just 15 years old and after working his way up he successfully became Manager three years ago. His day to day job covers the whole remit of managing a busy café, from managing stocks and staffing, to ensuring customers are well served and leave comfortably content and satisfied. Robert said “Seeing people enjoy their food and chatting to our regular customers is my favourite part of the job. I like to see our customers happy”. “I enjoy regularly updating the menu with tasty new dishes and drinks for our customers to enjoy; it means there is always something new for them to try. We have some delicious speciality coffees and smoothies that prove very popular”.

Employer Vacancy Map Level 2 Apprenticeship in Hospitality Services

The current National Minimum Wage for an apprentice is £3.50 an hour. This rate applies to apprentices under 19 and those aged 19 or over who are in their first year. Apprentices must be paid at least the minimum wage rate for their age if they are aged 19 or over and have completed their first year. The minimum wage rates are £5.60 an hour for 18-20 year olds and £7.05 for anyone aged 21 and over. Apprentices are paid for their normal working hours and training that’s part of their apprenticeship (usually one day per week).
