Who The Apprenticeship Is For

A PMO qualification is ideal for those who are looking to develop their skills in a specific sector. The qualification supports those entering the sector for the first time or for those who are already employed and wish to develop their knowledge for the purpose of business performance.

What Will You Learn

Apprenticeship Content

Mandatory units include:

  • Complying with statutory regulations and organisational safety requirements 
  •  Promoting effective working relationships 
  • Contributing to effective team working 

Generic Pathway optional units include:

  • Controlling manufacturing operations 
  • Transferring materials 
  • Producing formed products 
  • Making products using computer controlled equipment 
  • Producing products by assembly operations 
  • Receiving and checking incoming materials 
  • Ensuring effective handover of manufacturing operations

Learning Methods

You will be assigned a qualified Training Advisor, where learning will be undertaken by a mixture of 1 to 1 sessions, on/off the job learning and mentor support.

Assessment Methods

Assessments methods vary depending on Unit and Title. Candidates must complete one assignment/portfolio of evidence for each mandatory unit and each chosen optional unit.

Progression Opportunities

After completing this qualification, you could go onto achieving further qualifications specific to your job role. For example, if you are working on a textiles production line, you could go onto complete a Textiles/Design qualification.

This Apprenticeship allows candidates to progress onto the following roles:

  • Manufacturing Process Operator
  • Maintenance Operator
  • Production Inspector
  • Assembly Operator

Entry Requirements


You must have no previous Level 2 qualifications in Performing Manufacturing and Operations.  

You will be required to complete Functional Skills English, Maths and ICT Level 2 if you haven’t already achieved GCSEs. Apprentices with appropriate GCSEs in Maths, English and ICT grade A*-C will not need to complete Functional Skills.
