Why you should employ a Social Media Apprentice

Digital marketing and the use of social and digital media is a key part of business marketing strategies and practice today. Companies like Innocent Drinks are smashing it on Twitter, McDonald’s currently has 66,005, 489 likes on its Facebook page which is increasing by the minute, feminine hygiene brand always is taking a stance with its #LikeAGirl video campaign, and even Charmin are making the most of its not so glamourous products with its #TweetFromTheSeat social media marketing strategy.

Let’s be honest, these are huge multimillion pound brands who probably have a team of 100 Social Media Executives behind a single 140 character tweet. Not every brand and company can afford to break the internet and go viral but Profound Services have an affordable solution so you can create conversation and convert customer online.

The growth of this industry sector has seen a number of jobs advertised for social media experts. A survey of over 500 companies carried out by Econsultancy Experian in early 2012 found businesses were planning on expanding their digital marketing presence and subsequent departments but felt the shortage of skilled workers in this area was preventing them from fully harnessing digital media. Business are looking for more digital marketing capability and capacity which is increasing the demand for skilled people in this sector.

With this in mind, Profound Services is proud to announce it is delivering Level 3 Apprenticeship in Social Media for Business to contribute to meeting the skills priorities for Digital Britain. This framework has been designed to equip learners with the ability to understand, utilise and develop the skills needed whilst working in social media and digital marketing for business purposes.

The advanced qualification is ideal for those already working in ICT or marketing. It also supports learners entering this sector for the first time or those looking to upskill and develop their knowledge of social media in a business environment.

Profound Services can help you recruit a Social Media Assistant who will be taught and assessed against their ability to carry out the following tasks:

  • managing and monitoring online communities
  • working with businesses to promote, utilise and increase presence through social media
  • copy writing and media placement
  • development of social media strategy and seeking out new and relevant content
  • formulating the content calendar
  • identify key bloggers and influencers

Although it’s been around for many many years, social media is still young and we are in the ‘early adapter’ phase for small companies. Businesses need the support of a skilled workforce to enable them to make the best use of digital marketing tools and concepts, and that’s exactly what we are here to help with by supporting you in recruiting a Social Media Assistant.

What’s even better is that a Government Apprenticeship Grant for Employers (AGE) is available that provides businesses with 50 employees or less with a £1,500 grant towards covering the cost of the apprentice’s qualification.
