Since being in school Savanna knew that she wanted to undergo an apprenticeship. She liked the aspect of earning money whilst being in a working environment that would allow her to gain real work skills to benefit her future.
After finding out about apprenticeships in the property sector through a friend, Savanna searched the Durham GOV Apprenticeships website for Estate Agency roles and found the perfect vacancy with Apple Estates in Easington.
Within a month of leaving school, Savanna was invited for an interview and received a job offer from Apple Estates to work as a Business Administrator whilst completing a Level 2 Apprenticeship in Business and Administration.
A typical day in Savanna’s role as a Business Administrator included liaising with tenants, completing application forms, and dealing with incoming telephone queries, all of which contributed towards helping her gaining valuable experience and building a career within the property sector.
During her apprenticeship, Savanna also underwent training and achieved Level 1 Functional Skills in ICT. Her Training Advisor at Profound Services, Carrie Robinson, commented on her success and said: “Savanna has been a joy to teach and has worked hard throughout the programme while working in a busy office environment.
“She has made a huge improvement in her skills and I believe she will go on to achieve great things!”
Savanna has been offered a full-time role with Apple Estates and is progressing onto Level 2 Sales of Residential Property, which is a fantastic achievement and step forward in her career.
We asked Savanna a few questions about her apprenticeship journey:
What piece of advice would you give to a young person looking for their first job?
My advice would be to make sure you know what you want to do before leaving school. It’s not the best idea if you just want a job for the sake of money. Make sure it’s something that you would enjoy doing. Also, don’t just look on one website and pick the first job you see, make sure you read the job description in full so you know what type of work you’ll be doing on a daily basis.
What has been the most rewarding part of your career here?
The most rewarding part so far has been given the opportunity to go full time and completing my Level 2 in Business and Administration. I am now completing Level 2 Sales of Residential Property.
What is your ideal job and where do you see yourself in the future?
My dream would be to work in Real Estate in America.I am always watching Million Dollar Listing and they always earn big money over there. I love working at Apple Estates, but working in the USA seems interesting.
