Up to £5,000 grant award for SMEs who hire a DurhamWorks participant

The DurhamWorks Learning Working Earning (LWE) Grant is available to SMEs (businesses, not for profit organisations) to support the creation of employment, apprenticeships and work based learning opportunities for young people who are on the DurhamWorks programme. The opportunity must have some form of accredited learning attached to it which includes apprenticeships offered by Profound Services!

Funding can be used to support the creation of a DurhamWorks position by supporting the cost of salary, equipment, specialist training and other work related expenses.

The grant award is up to £5,000 for a 12 month period and can support up to 70% of the individual’s salary costs as long as the employer contributes at least £1,000 towards the salary of the individual.

Example:
National Apprentice Minimum Wage = £3.40
Working Hours (Monday-Friday 9-5pm) = 37.5 hours per week
Weekly Wage = £127.50
Annual Salary = £6,630
DurhamWorks LWE Grant Award = - £4,641 (70% of individual salary cost)
Employer Payout = £1,989

In order to access the funding the employer must complete an online application form. A team of DurhamWorks Business Advisors are on hand to support employers making an application and identifying other support available. It is recommended that employers speak to a Business Advisor in advance of making an application to ensure the most appropriate package of support is put together for the business and young person.

For more information, contact Profound Services on 0191 587 4575 or email info@profoundservices.com. We'll put you in touch with a DurhamWorks Business Advisor who'll be able to check your eligibility and start the application process.”
