Dionne trains her way into an apprenticeship

Dionne started her traineeship programme with Profound Services on August 8th as she was interested in gaining vital work experience and skills within business administration and ultimately gain an apprenticeship in the sector.

Our Traineeship provides young people with the opportunity to gain work experience and career development sessions in a high-quality placement needed to prepare for a job or apprenticeship. The programme also provides trainees with the opportunity to gain their Functional Skills qualification with support from their Traineeship Co-ordinator.

Dionne spoke to our Traineeship Co-ordinators about traineeships we have to offer in the East Durham area, and after hearing about the percentage of young people that progress into an apprenticeship or paid employment after completing an 10-week programme, Dionne decided to step her foot in the right direction and enrol onto our programme.

Throughout the traineeship, Dionne gained employability skills within her work placement which gave her a flavour for working life and prepared her for a career. Dionne commented: “Gaining business administration skills had helped me to develop my CV and have points to discuss at interview.”

Our Traineeship Co-ordinator Hannah Sutherst worked with Dionne to build upon her current employability skills that will make her CV stand out from the rest when applying for apprenticeship and job vacancies. This was done through career development sessions with support from Hannah and hands-on experience through her work placement. Dionne said: “I enjoyed all aspects of the work placement as it made me feel like a valued member of staff.

I’m so happy that I’ve gained employment and secured an income, as well as gaining qualifications to better myself.”

Dionne said that she would most definitely recommend a traineeship programme to other young people to support their development.

Before completing her traineeship, Dionne was offered a Level 2 Business Administration Apprenticeship with The Robin Todd Centre in South Hetton! She has now started her apprenticeship and is continuing to gain experience, skills, and knowledge while working towards her qualification.

Traineeship Co-ordinator Hannah Sutherst said: “It’s fantastic seeing young people like Dionne put so much work and effort into their programme and seeing such a positive outcome. Congratulations to Dionne, Profound wish you the best of luck in your career!”
