Before beginning a Traineeship with Ergo3, an energy consultancy company based in Stockton, Dan was unemployed after leaving a college course that he didn’t enjoy. He wanted to gain real-life work experience to further his career.
He left school without his English and Maths, and Dan soon realised they were integral in standing out to employers.
Dan found out about our traineeship programme and began working with Ergo3 as a trainee. Our Traineeship Coordinator Hannah Sutherst worked closely with Dan to develop his skills and gain essential Maths and English qualifications needed to move into employment.
During the traineeship, Dan achieved his Functional Skills Qualifications as well as hugely improving his confidence and performance in the workplace. Dan commented: “The traineeship improved my confidence. I can speak a lot better on the telephone, and I’ve improved my organisational skills.
I now have my English and Maths Qualifications that will make me more employable when looking for jobs in the future.”
Upon completing the traineeship, Ergo3 recognised Dan’s hard work and dedication into developing his skills and offered him a full-time apprenticeship role! Dan is now working as a Telesales Apprentice completing a Level 2 Apprenticeship in Sales.
We asked Dan about his experience as a trainee at Ergo3, and this is what he had to say:
What has been the most rewarding part of your traineeship?
Being offered an apprenticeship.
What piece of advice would you give to a young person looking for their first job? Would you recommend a traineeship with profound Services?
Don’t think you are coming to work for free – look at the bigger picture. I would 100% recommend Profound, they have done more for me than many job searching centres ever have.
Is there anything that you would have done differently in your career journey knowing what you know now?
I would have done a traineeship quicker to gain an apprenticeship.
What do you hope to get out of completing your apprenticeship? What is your ultimate career goal?
To gain full-time employment with Ergo3. I want to use my skills as a platform to get better at what I currently do.
