If you’re a small-medium employer in Tees Valley you can receive £2,500 for recruiting an IT Apprentice, by accessing the Tees Valley Apprenticeship Grant for Employers (TVAGE).
What grants are available?
The TVAGE provides a core grant of £1,500 per apprentice. An additional payment of £1,000 (£2,500 in total) will be paid by the Combined Authority Board if your apprentice enrols on an IT or Digital Marketing Apprenticeship Framework, including:
- IT, Web, Software and Telecoms
- IT User
- Social Media for Business
You can apply for this grant 3 times within a 12-month period.
When are the grants available?
The TVAGE is available for new apprentices aged 16 – 24 who start their learning between Monday 3rd April 2017 to July.

Am I eligible for this grant?
To receive this grant, you must be an SME within the Tees Valley area; Darlington, Hartlepool, Stockton-on-Tees, Redcar and Cleveland, Middlesbrough.
Tees Valley companies can start an apprentice and receive the grant regardless of whether they have taken one in the last 12 months, as long as the previous position is still within the business.
Employers will be required to commit to:
- employ the Apprentice for the duration of their Apprenticeship training (a minimum of 12 months); and
- pay at least the Apprenticeship National Minimum Wage.
