New Personal Trainers start with Everyone Active thanks to Profound

Three fitness fanatics have reached their career dreams after completing Profound Services’ Fitness and Personal Training qualification

People in and around the Sunderland area recently enrolled onto Profound Services’ Personal Training and Fitness qualification, which is a part of Active IQ’s range of frameworks, nationally recognised within the industry.

The cohort of six learners achieved the qualification. Some wanted to do the qualification to learn about the anatomy of the body and how to look after themselves through the correct nutrition, others, who are already personal trainers, did the qualification to upskill their current portfolio and stay up-to-date with the latest framework.

For the remaining learners, their goal was to become a personal trainer at one of Everyone Active’s eight leisure centres across Sunderland. Profound Services recently partnered with the leisure operator to support people into employment, by helping them gain their level 3 qualification (which is a requirement in most gyms when becoming a fitness trainer).

Fitness Managers across the area got to speak with our newly qualified learners and work with them to find them the perfect role at Everyone Active’s leisure centres across the City. Lee Elliott, Fitness Manager at Everyone Active’s Silksworth Community Pool, Tennis and Wellness Centre, said: “It’s great that we can now offer a level 3 qualification to help people become a personal trainer.

“We also offer our Personal Trainers a rent-free month, so they can build up their clientele without having to think too much about their finances. It gives them an easy transition from their previous employment into self-employment.”

Profound spoke with Molik Aktar who joined the course while working in retail. Molik commented: “It’s been amazing to take part in the course and do something I enjoy. I’m now building up my clientele while working part-time so I can ease into full-time self-employment.”

Richie Walton, who completed his level 2 qualification ten years ago, wanted to become a Personal Trainer with Everyone Active but couldn’t move forward without having finance in place to pay for the qualification. Richie Walton told us: “I knew I had to get the level 3 done at some point, but the finance was my only barrier. When I found out that I could access funding with Profound Services I jumped straight at the opportunity.

“Now I have floor time at the gym so I can gain clients and work full-time as a Personal Trainer.”
