Nearly all employers we spoke to were looking to recruit an apprentice in their business or already employed apprentices.
The launch of the apprenticeship levy created a huge confusion amongst employers who now pay towards their levy bill. But since, the levy has allowed employers to consider the importance of staff training and fully embrace the apprenticeship programme.
We spoke with employers about the digital fund, and how using it to create an in-house, streamlined training process to develop staff’s continuous professional development can create a sense of morale and empowerment in the business.
“We’ve found that since using the levy fund to implement staff training, our retention rate has increased and more of our staff are completing their role professionally and to a higher standard”, one spokesperson told us at TVBS.
Not only are the businesses using the fund to upskill staff, but are using it to create apprenticeship opportunities for young people in the community, which rewards their corporate social responsibility by offering social impact and solving the low numbers of youths currently in work or education.
