Katie's first real life work experience

Experience is integral for the start of a young person’s career, and as a training provider, we believe it’s essential to offer school students the opportunity to gain an insight into the world of work.

We had a wonderful week working with our work-experience student Katie who has been supporting our sales and marketing team.

At the beginning of Katie’s work experience, Katie told us that she wanted to go to college to gain A-levels, as she wasn’t quite sure what she wanted to do as a career but thought college was her best option.

As the week went by and Katie got to grips with the office environment, she’s now changed her view and has opened up to the idea of doing an apprenticeship after leaving school.

This only demonstrates how necessary experience is, so young people can openly explore options that maybe weren’t provided in school.

Katie commented: “The work-experience placement has helped me gain confidence. At the start I was nervous to speak on the phone but now I feel like I have the confidence to speak to anyone.”

Our Learner Engagement Team Leader Jonathan commented, “Katie has been excellent support for both sales and marketing, her attitude and willingness to learn has been great to see, and we wish her all the best moving forward.”
