On Wednesday 19th September, staff from TESCO were presented with their nationally recognised Functional Skills qualification certificates. Among the representatives supporting the presentation were Barry Nelson from the Profound Group and Clare Graham from TESCO. In addition, the Senior Management team from TESCO and USDAW representatives were also in attendance.
The distribution site in Goole work in conjunction with USDAW to enable workers to participate in English and Maths classes. The site not only supports TESCO employees but also other employers such as PNP and Mitie. Each learner is given time away from their job to enhance their skills, whilst also matching this with their own time, outside of working hours.
Staff at the TESCO Distribution Site in Goole have achieved a 100% pass rate for the third successive group. The class of July 2018 achieved 34 passes in English and Maths, with the cohort represented by 11 different nationalities, including countries beyond the European boundaries.
Profound group based in Peterlee, Co Durham, deliver the qualifications on a weekly basis, with delivery staff impressed at the enthusiasm and drive the learners have shown, throughout the 15-week programme.
